Embattled former UFC champ Rampage Jackson was picked up by the police and brought to a hospital for a mental evaluation on Thursday.

One day after a three-mile police chase that led to Jackson's very public arrest for felony evading, reckless driving and hit and run, friends of Rampage told authorities they were "concerned about his behavior and some remarks he was making," Irvine police Lt. Rick Handfield told the Long Beach Press-Telegram.

"Officers spoke to him to evaluate whether he was a danger to himself or others," Handfield said. "He was detained and was taken to an area hospital for mental evaluation."

I think his actions merit a check out of his state of mind and if need me BANNED from MMA!

It is unfortunate that this has happened to Rampage; however, it is not much of a surprise. I have often thought that he seemed troubled - this is evident in many of his interviews. Hopefully this psych evaluation with shed some light on his troubles and allow him to get help. He has had previous run ins with the law and his latest "rampage" may result in incarceration.

I'm just like WOW! this is really shocking to me. I've been a fan of Rampage for quite some time. I love his personality, and mostly I tend to laugh. I know that when he was in Pride they gave him a "character" homeless, bad **bleep**, told him not to smile... and then when he came to UFC it was a really nice change to get to see him smile, and be goofey. He's such an intense personality! I'm really shocked with his current news, but I think that if he does need some help, this would be the time to get it! No matter what though.... I'm always going to be a Rampage fan!

Here we go! We have all these couch shrinks making comments and judging Rampage before any clinical finds is made. You guy's need to keep your hoods on and tie your nooses. And stick to what you do best. You bunch of hater's.

mma-4-life need to learn how to write before posting any messages about his/her opinion. Oh! I forgot people like you are not suppose to be judged. Only a idiot would want to strip someone of his/her livelihood. Rampage has found his knack in life and with some professional help he is going to be fine. Doing what he does best.

What's the difference between "couch shrinks" and you "judging" others. Have you ever even left your small little world and traveled this great country? You listen to the media too much. They continue to promote this huge "reality of hate" to sell their wares. I do not know where you live nor how you were raised, but I've lived in 12 different States and have spent considerable time in another 25. Almost all I've met have been decent Americans. You probably believe in red and white States. We all need to have some original thinking going on and stop listening to the media "hate" reports. Perhaps then, there could be some abstruse discussions on sites like these.

Man.... I hope all ends well for him. I would like to see him rematch Forrest Griffen. I know he fights way better than he did that fight.

I have watched Rampage in Pride and UFC. He always entertains in the ring and in interviews, and was a class act after the loss to Forest. Until recently I viewed him as being fairly grounded and as having a funny and positive self depricating view of life. I am very surprised at his recent turn and wonder if thiscould be due to substance abuse, mental illness, or a recent head injury. I hope that he will be OK. I was also shocked at the fighters purse for the last title fight, and feel that they are worth a larger share of the dollars that they are generating.

Well I am going to judge him on his criminal not his mental who cares if he is losing his mind? He still is breaking the law, so if that means I am going to need to "keep your hoods on and tie your nooses" then so be it. Maybe you shouldn't be so quick to judge people.

He is apparently a little upset by his loss to Forest!!! We have never had the World by the short and curley's and have had it taken away! It is very hard to say how any of us would handle that! Especially if we werent that stable to begin with! Give him a break, for now atleast!

I really don't think it matters what we think. It really doesn't matter what Dana White thinks either. Since Dana made an example of Jesse Taylor in Ultimate Fighter(Latest Season) by kicking him out of the finals for his conduct in public. It would look very discriminating to allow Rampage to continue fighting in the UFC. Rampage's conduct was far worse than Jesse's and Rampage is already at the top of the class for representing the UFC. No I think Mr. White's decision is set in stone for him. But look on the brightside maybe Rampage will fight Kimbo Slice on CBS.....LOL!

GOD BLESS!

Pleasesssseee!!! Romey, hit dogs always hollar. I must have really touch a nerve. By the way it does not take a rock scientist to now that Rampage broke the law. The man stated that he was depressed couple with a night out on the town must have triggered a psychosocial episode. Rampage need to focus on the legal aspect that he is facing. Then get back to what he do best is hit the gym and perfect his craft.

TOOT! TOOT! for Mr Claire-Voryant, the first part of the hyphenated name must be you dude. All I need to say to you is that I'm a veteran that been through three war's for my country and traveled around the world serving military tour duties. So, your little green twig **bleep** can travel safely within the USA. Before you post again go and blow your little runny nose.

I cannot speak for what happen to Mr. Jackson that night in question. I do know personally after loosing a fight of that magnitude the fighters mind takes a wile to realize the personal loss. Some have attributed this to a term post Triaminic stress syndrome. I under no circumstances condone his behavior or actions but I do understand that when you snap under the stress of loosing and yes winning you can black out and do things that are not in your demeanor. I wish Mr. Jackson got the help he needs and hopefully some day will be able to do what he loves. In the mean time Lets just see how things work out. Good luck Q. Jackson

Let the court be the judge of Rampages actions. We don't know the guy and we don't exactly what happened. Since being in the UFC he's showed himself as a friendly, funny, professional fighter. I hope whatever happened gets worked out and he is allowed to continue in the UFC. Maybe Dana knows more than we do, but if not, I hope he waits for facts and doesn't act on speculation.

I too was was curious if Rampage, could have a head injury.
Whatever the reason/(s) that he is having these troubles, I wish him the best. All I can say, is that my family enjoys watching UFC, and appreciate the hard work and dedication that goes along with the sport. It is always nice to see and hear the respect that others have for their opponent before and after the fights. In my opinion, it shows the younger fans what true Sportsmanship is...

I was SHOCKED to hear about Rampage...a side from him being one of the tuffest dudes on the planet and would strangle any on you computer geeks with one hand, he seemed like a nice and cool person out of the ring on the reality show. Grow up people. We ALL have mental issues....we are just not in the spot light. Ive been arrested twice in my life. Thats probably less that most of you punks. Keep it real! -Tommy X
